Following a refresh of its mission and vision in 2019, Met Rec engaged in its first-ever strategic planning process. A Strategic Plan was developed for both tiers of Met Rec’s dual mission; Recreation and Television Operations.
The desire to develop the plans stemmed from Met Rec’s 2019 Recreation Needs Assessment (see links below), an assessment designed to help Met Rec understand how it can best support the community’s recreation needs. Key needs identified in the assessment include:
- Strategic support for complex and collaborative recreation initiatives
- Continued financial support for recreation amenities
- Additional facilities to meet the needs of recreation programming
Following the completion of the Recreation Needs Assessment, Met Rec was encouraged to move forward with Strategic Planning to guide its work over the next three to five years. Final drafts of both plans were completed this spring and can be viewed here.
