The MetRec Recreation Grant Program applications open today, Feb. 4, 2026. The deadline for submission is March 13, 2026.

Now in its eleventh consecutive year, the Recreation Grant Program prioritizes projects that meet our community’s vital recreation needs. Through collaboration with public and nonprofit partners, MetRec supports the maintenance and enhancement of existing infrastructure, the elevation of nonprofit recreation operations, and the development of innovative recreation programs and projects, especially those consistent with  as identified in the 2025 Regional Recreation Master Plan priorities.

Organizations may apply for Capital, Operations, Community, Multi-Year Operational or Multi-Year Community grants.

Important Dates:

Feb. 4 – Applications open for the 2026 Recreation Grant Program.
March 13 – Applications close. Organizations must submit their applications by this date.
May 27 – 2026 Recreation Grant recipients announced.

How it works

There is one grant cycle a year. When the applications close, an independent grant review committee scores and ranks applications within each of the five grant funding purposes based on the rubric included in the application. They then submit these recommendations to the MetRec Recreation Committee, which submits funding options to the MetRec board. At the May MetRec board meeting, the board awards the grants, ensuring funds align with grant reviewers’ scores, residents’ recreation needs and MetRec’s mission
