The Gunnison County Metropolitan Recreation District (MetRec) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Administrative Coordinator who is interested not only in strong administrative execution, but also in growing into a broader operations and programs role over time.
This position serves as the district’s primary administrative coordinator and plays a central role in supporting governance, finance, grants administration, and internal systems. About the Role
The Administrative Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director and Project Coordinator to keep MetRec running smoothly, transparently, and efficiently. While the role is administrative, it is also systems-oriented, requiring sound judgment, initiative, and an interest in improving workflows and organizational stability.
As the district continues to grow, this position is expected to evolve, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility in operations, internal coordination, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute board and committee meeting materials
- File required reports with federal, state, county, and local agencies
- Track expenses, prepare financial reports, and coordinate with the district’s accountant
- Administer all aspects of the Recreation Grant Program, including applications, reviewer support, documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking
- Assist with annual audit preparation and reporting
- Support smooth internal operations by tracking tasks, maintaining administrative systems, and supporting weekly team meetings
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Project Coordinator to improve administrative systems and workflows
- Serve as a primary point of contact for administrative, programmatic, and operational questions
- Provide administrative and operational reporting to the board as needed
- Help ensure district operations are transparent, compliant, and well-organized

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
- Three or more years of experience or demonstrated pursuit in administrative, executive assistant, or organizational support roles
Working Conditions
- Flexible, full-time position, primarily Monday–Friday
- Work is primarily based in the MetRec office, with limited remote work available
- Standard office environment with frequent deadlines and interruptions
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $65,000 – $70,000, depending on experience
